Nestled
in the heart of Myrtle Beach is the oldest, most prestigious community on
the East Coast, Pine Lakes. Our community boasts the old Ocean Forest Hotel
and Resort and the Pine Lakes International Country Club. "The Grand-Daddy"
of them all is here, the first golf course built in the acclaimed "Golf
Capital of the World."
The
hotel no longer exists, but the Pine Lakes Country Club was established
in 1927, and sits arrayed with beautiful lakes and Carolina pines. The course
is still family-owned and operated, serving a family recipe of clam chowder
on the first tee - guaranteed to put yards on your first drive. Sports Illustrated
got its start right here in the clubhouse, in 1954.
Pine Lakes is located on the north end of Myrtle Beach, affectionally called "Uptown," and has everything essential to make it an easy walking-shopping-dining community. It has the only stretch of beach without hotels or condos, with a few cabanas owned by Mrytle Beach locals.
Pine Lakes has its own civic organization that gets together annually, proud to still harbor neighborly comeraderie. It is less than a mile away from the Myrtle Beach schools. As you cruise the avenues up or down U.S. Highway 17, you will find street names such as Woodside, Poinsett, and Calhoun. That's when you'll know we are the most inviting neighborhood of Myrtle Beach. You are welcome here.
